Our Story-
I began formulating soap and skin care products nearly twenty years ago when I was a Massage Therapy student.
During the past year as the world faced a pandemic, The Mahaffey clan began looking for new inside adventures. With a house full of children, ( all of whom were suddenly homeschooling ) science and art became part of our daily lives. In addition, the children were looking for ways to raise money to help Skip, our blind dog, receive eye surgery. So in true 2020 fashion, we began crafting soap to sell to family and friends; thus, Celtic Clan Soapery was formed!
We are now a functioning soapery with the intent of teaching the Clan Kids additional skills of business and philanthropy. Teaching our children the importance of giving is the primary mission of Celtic Clan Soapery.
Our Mission-
We have chosen causes and local charities to support. The Tacoma Rescue Mission is our dedicated community outreach. We also join in periodic fundraising with causes that have affected our family and those we love.
Already, with your support and donations, Celtic Clan Soapery has raised nearly $1000.00 for our partner charities! Thank You for joining with our Mission!
Our Time-
Family time in the Mahaffey house is a priority. Finding ways to incorporate the people we love into a business opportunity is the dream. This is truly a family project. You will get to see how the children are learning and growing here as we travel this road together. We will welcome guest soapers into our kitchen from time to time to share the love.
Our first Soaping event included 4, yes 4, generations! We had the opportunity to spend the afternoon painting bath bombs. My Great Aunt Titi told us of how she moved to Washington from Puerto Rico and began the "This N That" craft store right here in the early 1980s.
As children, my sister and I would frequently work at the shop, asking to go there nearly every day! We learned at an early age to help customers and tend the till. We participated in ceramic shows and learned other crafting skill from my Great Aunt and Great Grandmother and Grandmother. That was such a fond memory and significantly impacted who I am today. I am grateful that in a similar way I am experiencing that again with my own children.
We thank you for joining us on this journey. We look forward to updating you on things that are happening in the Celtic Clan Kitchen!
